Somewhere on the masculine spectrum lies your insecurity, like mine. Felt in the imagination or in our own existence. We decide which idols we pay homage to. We define ourselves and our values, and these in turn influence our milieu. We also create a space for our inner selves and the inner selves of others. May they have enough space, we don't want to break because of our hardness.

This work deals with ideas and stereotypes of masculinity, and with the question of the extent to which men deal openly with emotions. The examination of the reproduction of traditional images of masculinity attempts to create more individualised ideas by breaking with expectations and confronting them.

Foundfootage video was used, a medium that is strongly linked to memories. Artificial intelligence was also used as a modern, reproducing tool to counteract the reproduction of conventions in the experiment.

After three years of virtual or hybrid exhibition formats, a final exhibition was held at Fellerstrasse 11 in Bümpliz for the first time again in 2023. However, the pandemic not only led to the establishment of new forms of exhibiting. Of course, the crisis also had a direct impact on the studies of many students: They hardly saw each other on site, often worked alone and moved almost exclusively in virtual space. This also led to many students wanting to extend their time at HKB. This year in July, twelve students graduated from the Visual Communication programme. You can find their work here:
